Celebration of Abu al-Qasim al-Zahrawi Millennium


On the 24th of December, CULTNAT celebrated a millennium of the death of the Andalusian physician and Muslim surgeon Abu al-Qasim. The celebration began with a lecture titled ‘Abu al-Qasim’s Medical Efforts in the Field of Surgery and Anatomy’.
Dr. Yasser ElShayeb, director of the center, stated that the celebration of the millennium comes within the center’s plan to document the heritage of the Muslim Scholars.
It is worth mentioning that Abu al-Qasim al-Zahrawi was born in Cordoba in Andalusia and was considered one of the greatest surgeons. He invented many medical equipment and surgical procedures, and can be considered one of the greatest doctors in the field of Plastic Surgery, Pharmacology, Anatomy, Pediatrics and neuro, and other fields of medicine. He has summed up his experience in his huge book ‘Inflection for those incapable of Compiling’ that consists of thirty chapters.
