Elba is a natural reserve that contains an exceptional floral and faunal diversity and is located in the Southeast corner of the Eastern Desert of Egypt. The inhabitants belong to the Besharyia and Ababda tribes who have unique traditions and customs.

Besharyians and Ababdans will present their culture, crafts and art through children’s illustrations of Elba’s primitive surroundings, samples of their diverse handicrafts to sell, images of the landscape, as well as their special tasty coffee.

Ossama Ghazaly, director of Gebel Elba Protected Area at the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency-EEAA, will give a brief presentation on Elba’s landscape and culture explaining the role of EEAA in protecting and preserving the region’s biodiversity. A folkloric dancing show will conclude the day that comes within a cooperation project between CULTNAT and EEAA.
