This exhibit celebrates the launch of the book: “Egyptian Spices and their Recipes” and presents 12 plant species used as spices and featured in the book. “Egyptian Spices and their Recipes” presents a number of plants used as food “spices” in everyday life in Egypt and could be easily found in the market. Each spice is introduced through pictures and a descriptive text. Then, a number of recipes in which the spice is used are given. The book is part of a project documenting the use of plants in its various domains “ethnobotany”. The project hopes to cover an important aspect of our heritage: the food heritage and to protect the traditional knowledge and ingredients related to it.
