Amr ibn Al’aas’ conquest on Egyptduring the reign of Caliph Umar ibn Al-Khattab (19 H./640 AD – 21H./642 AD) wasnot the first encounter between Egypt and the Muslims. There were several suchencounters during the reign of the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him), as well as duringthe caliphates of Abu Bakr Al Sediq and Umar ibn Al-Khattab.


This lecture presents anintroduction of the different Islamic eras and states that came to Egypt sincethe Islamic conquest, as well as the timeline for some of Egypt’s neighboringcountries. It also demonstrates the most important monuments and capitals builtin Egypt during the reigns of the Caliphs, the Umayyad state, and the Abbasidera until the establishment of the Tulunid State in Egypt.
