The Byzantine era is a distinctcultural period in Egypt, and can be considered a cultural extension thatresisted the Roman conqueror. It began to rely on symbolism to develop theEgyptian civilization, taking on rituals and celebrations as its guide.


The truth is that the Coptic stagestarted before 284 AD, when Mark the Apostle came to Egypt in the mid-firstcentury, where he entered Alexandria and met Pope Anianus. Then, Christianityspread all across Egypt marking a new distinct cultural stage.
