The Nubian Water Wheel at Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) Sinnari House
Delivered by: Mohy El Din Saleh – A researcher of the Nubian heritage and a member of the Nubian Heritage Society
CULTNAT has organized in cooperation with the BA Sinnari House (Cairo) a lecture entitled “The Nubian Water Wheel”, named after one of the most important monuments inherited from ancient Nubian times. The water wheel has remained a prominent monument and acts as the only means of agriculture in many Nubian areas, and continues to be well-known in places where the Nubians have lived along the Nile basin. In addition, the water wheel has remained a water-lifting machine in a wide area of the Nile Valley from Upper Egypt to the Central Areas of Sudan. Creating such wheels is a craft that has passed across generations, allowing it to retain its structure, old parts, and Nubian names.
